Self-development through theatre

I nurture playfulness, spontaneity and emotional expression in a safe group space

Clowning

Clowning is a comeback to the world of childlike awe, to a world ruled by playfulness, discovery and pleasure. Your clown is a part of you: the one that is most curious, spontaneous and emotionally unconstrained. You will meet your own silliness, learn to listen to impulses and turn on a sense of curiosity about the world around.

During the workshop this part of you will be invited to play in a safe and supportive group environment.

Physical theatre

The body can feel and tell stories. Words don't always have to the main plot drivers. During this workshop we will therefore work on body awareness, physical character formation, using different states of tension. We will let go of overthinking and allow our bodies do the work!

We will work with approaches inspired by the work of Lecoq, Grotowski and contemporary physical theatre collectives (DV8, Gecko).

Improv

The main focus will be on encouraging you to build the ease and freedom of being on stage. We will learn to listen and react to others, turn off the inner critic who limits our creativity and spontaneity and to adapt to the unknown. All of that while having fun and laughing out loud.

During the workshop we will practice emotional reactions, character creation, object work and collaboration.

Who can benefit?

The experienced and the unexperienced. Anyone who wants to encounter their sensitivity, spontaneity and expression and open up to more authentic contacts with others on stage or in personal life. The workshops are suitable for actors, teachers, animators, therapists but equally so for anyone interested in personal development. The level will always be tailored to the participants and their experience.

What will I achieve by participating?

  • greater self-confidence on stage and in life

  • awakening your emotions and body

  • overcoming fear and embarrassment

  • greater creativity

  • silencing the inner critic

  • an ability to play spontaneously

  • opening up to closer contact with others

What people say?

"Maja is extremely energetic and lively, she can make anyone want to engage in the fun. She is a part of the group and not just the workshop leader, so I feel really comfortable to just stop wanting to prove anything."

Sara, improv workshop participant

"Clowning is discovering parts of yourself that you put to sleep for some reason. It makes you laugh, cry, shout - the whole spectrum of emotions. Maja helps structure the process and creates a feeling of safety to explore these forgotten aspects of ourselves."

Michał, clowning workshop participant

"I love it. It's not a typical drama class. We use the body, we do crazy activities, we create something from just a sentence of inspiration. Coming to those evening classes let's me relax and power up at the same time."

Wiktoria, physical theatre workshop participant
